So talk about a passing of the torch from one generation to another. Now that sounds familiar doesn't it? That sounds almost awfully similar to the plot of the hit Cartoon Network classic series (and one of my favorite cartoon series) Ed, Edd n Eddy! I do noticed that many people compared it to Ed, Edd n Eddy as it took a lot of influence from Ed, Edd n Eddy (such as the setting, the Harvey Girls even reminded me of the titular Eds, the episode where the girls battle a group of boys in a treehouse is similar to the Eds battling the Kanker sisters over their clubhose in the season 1 episode Virt-Ed-Go, one of the male characters look sort of like Jonny 2x4, etc.). IGN gave the premiere episode " We're Back, Eddy!" an 8.0 out of 10, saying "While the new voice cast will take some getting used to, and the absence of Matt Hill, Sam Vincent and Tony Sampson is strongly felt, the show still manages to capture the essence of Ed, Edd n Eddy." The Occidental Weekly lamented that the series "lacks the impeccable comedic timing and wit of the original" and called the voice acting "mediocre at best", while also criticizing the writing, which it deemed subpar. So during the summer, I watched the first few episodes of the 2018 to 2020 Dreamworks-Netflix series, Harvey Girls Forever, or previously called Harvey Street Kids, and I liked it and the reason. This animated series follows the misadventures of Ed, Edd and Eddy, three conniving pals who hang around the neighborhood dreaming up new schemes to make money in order to buy more of their favorite candy: jawbreakers.
